Fire Continue McBride Pursuit
(Soccer365.com) Despite being blocked at every turn thus far by Toronto FC general manager Mo Johnston, Chicago exec Frank Klopas vowed that the team were still chipping away to gain the rights to Fulham strike ace Brian McBride.
With the BMO crew still requiring at least one of Chad Barrett, Justin Mapp and Chris Rolfe in any trade to acquire the former USMNT forward, the Fire have remained patient in the chase.
"I wish I could tell you it's a done deal, but it's not," Klopas told the Chicago Herald. "There's nothing to say at this point, but both sides are talking."
"We want the guy, but on the other hand you have to make the best decision for the team."
While he waits on a solution, McBride is reportedly set to be tabbed for a shock international return as one of three overage selections for Piotr Nowak's Summer Olympics squad.
