Scholes Out For 8-10 Weeks

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes looks set to be sidelined for the next eight weeks with a knee injury, with Wayne Rooney looking doubtful for Saturday's Premier League clash with Blackburn.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes looks set to be sidelined for the next eight weeks with a knee injury, with Wayne Rooney looking doubtful for Saturday's Premier League clash with Blackburn.

The 33-year-old suffered the setback during the early stages of United's UEFA Champions League victory away to AaB Aalborg.

Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the player will be out for the next six to eight weeks, saying: "He has suffered ligament damage.

"At this moment in time it's difficult to say exactly how serious (it is), but it looks like the medial ligament, in which case it will be six to eight weeks which is a bit of a blow."

Wayne Rooney was forced out of the match after an hour with a bothersome ankle injury, and Ferguson added: "We are hoping it isn't ligament trouble.

"He just felt his ankle. I would imagine he would be doubtful for the Blackburn game on Saturday."
