Clint Dempsey's Future at Fulham is Uncertain
Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey has ruled out the possibility of a loan move from Craven Cottage in the January transfer window, but has admitted he faces an uncertain future.
The American helped the Whites claim their first away point two weeks ago at Portsmouth, despite being reduced to a cameo role this season.
When Dempsey joined the Cottagers in January 2007 for GBP 2 million he was a record signing from the American MLS League, and the 25-year-old is aware his contract expires in July 2010.
If Fulham had to sell the player, it would most likely take place next summer.
"It is what it is," said Dempsey, "But I'm not going to go on loan. I have to try to make the most of the time that I play."
Dempsey admits he can't wait around forever under manager Roy Hodgson. "After this season I have a year left," he added. "Whether a team comes in and wants to get me out, we'll see.
"I'm just trying to prove to him that I deserve to be out there."
Fulham are in 16th position on the league table after 10 games and face Newcastle at St. James' Park on Sunday.

Clint will do fine where ever he ends up. He's a great player and has the heart of a lion. If the US has any chance in the 2010 World Cup it will be the result of Clint's brilliance on the pitch. He's aggressive, hungry and a natural finisher!
I wish Clint the best of luck in his soccer career. I grew up playing ball with Clint's older brother Ryan, which was one heck of a player himself. We played on the Texas Longhorns together back in the day under coach Dick Hall.
The Dempsey's have what it takes to go the distance!
