Donovan Training With Bayern Munich
Directly after picking up his fifth Honda award, Los Angeles star Landon Donovan jetted off to begin a training stint with German giants Bayern Munich.
Though termed as a visit, some observers are wondering if the U.S. international isn't actually on trial with the Bavarians.
The club has previously inquired about Donovan with MLS, and coach Juergen Klinsmann formerly worked with the Galaxy.
"He's a good guy, a very good soccer player, and a big personality in American soccer," the Manager told Bayern's website. "He's training with us for 10 days to keep his fitness level."
Former L.A. general manager Alexi Lalas, on hand for the Honda ceremony, believes Donovan could be entering a great situation at Allianz Arena.
"If you're going to go to Germany, you might as well go to the super club," he told the Los Angeles Times. "It shows also his commitment to going to Europe that he's going over there on trial."
"If it ends up being Germany, he could do much worse."
