Dempsey's Double Earns Draw with Chelsea

Two goals from Clint Dempsey secured a 2-2 draw for Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday against Premier League title chasers Chelsea.

The Cottagers took an unexpected lead when Dempsey sneaked in unmarked at the far post following Simon Davies' curling free-kick from the left which avoided all the Chelsea defenders.

Luiz Felipe Scolari brought Nicolas Anelka on after only 30 minutes in an attempt to provide his side more attacking options to wipe out the one-goal deficit.

Scolari's talk at the break seemed to do the trick as The Blues equalized through Frank Lampard only five minutes into the second half. Some unconvincing defending in the Fulham goal saw Mark Schwarzer collide with Aaron Hughes, while the ball found Lampard who took full advantage of the opportunity and netted it.

Chelsea took the lead for the first time as Lampard scored his second, this time he powered home a trademark free-kick which swung late to find the bottom right corner of a despairing Schwarzer's goal.

However, the Cottagers kept fighting to the final whistle and were rewarded when Dempsey scored his brace with a magnificent header from another pin-point set-piece delivery from Davies.

i dont care what anyone says, dempsey is good. not ronaldo good... not even donovan good. but hes getting better and becoming a more important part of fulham. its great to see a new american face making a name for himself in english football (thats not a goal keeper)... i do have to say he should focus on his football and leave his "rapping career" alone hahaha.
