Ronaldinho Almost a City Man

AC Milan playmaker Ronaldinho has revealed he almost moved to Manchester City over the summer.

The Blues were after the Brazilian's signature throughout the pre-season and reports suggested the Eastlands club were the front-runners to sign him.

City pursued the 28-year-old for months after he became unpopular at Barcelona, but in the end they were beaten to it by Italian juggernauts AC Milan.

However, Ronaldinho has admitted he was very tempted to move to a Premier League side.

He told FourFourTwo magazine: "My brother spoke to Manchester City many times."

"Their project is the kind that would interest any player - they could soon be among the best sides in England.

"Lots of brilliant players are heading in their direction and yes, my brother looked properly at their offer.

"But Silvio Berlusconi (Milan owner) had been saying for years that he would like to sign me and I felt in the end that it was the right time to say yes."
