Henry Gives Barca a Vital Away Goal

Thierry Henry headed home the equalizer as Barcelona fought back to draw Lyon 1-1 at the Stade Gerland in UEFA Champions League action on Tuesday. The constant attack was expected from these two sides as they combined for 32 goals in the group stage

The home side got a dream start when Juninho converted a set piece in the 7th minute. The Brazilian’s service from the left side caught goalkeeper Víctor Valdés looking for a cross and once slightly out of position the ball sailed over his head and into the top corner.

Lyon had several chances to increase the lead most notably Karim Benzema failing to find answers on a one-on-one and then knocking a shot off the goal post.

Samuel Eto’o had the best chance for Barcelona with a shot coming back off the goal post to keep Lyon’s margin thin.

The second half slowed down but the Catalan giants were able to put their mark on the match with more possession and more consistent chances developed. The French international finally broke through when he headed home at the far post a corner kick that had been flicked on by Rafael Marquez in the 67th minute.

The draw gives Barcelona a slight advantage heading back to the Nou Camp for the March 11 match.
