Shearer - Time Running Out For Newcastle

Newcastle manager Alan Shearer admits the club are running out of time in their fight against relegation this season.

The Magpies produced yet another lackluster performance on Monday night as they played out a goalless draw against Portsmouth, leaving the Tynesiders four points from safety with five games remaining in the campaign.

He said: "We need to get a win. Time is running out, we know it."

And Toon legend Shearer will have to pull something special out of the bag if he hopes to steer the club away from the drop, with title-chasing Liverpool next up for the struggling outfit.

He added: "We might get something at Anfield and then we have two home games we need to take six points from.

"I think it will go to the final game of the season.

"But we need a win to kick-start a bit of momentum."
