The World Cup success of Argentina is difficult to predict. The names are not as well know as some of the other big contenders but the roster should include a good mix of veterans and young players just waiting for a chance to shine on the international stage.

Is there a Cinderella in the house? Or should we look no further than the traditional favorites? Soccer fanatic Heath Young provides the voice of a fan looking foward to Germany 2006.

In World Cup qualifying, Sweden played well and seemed to have little trouble finding the net. Midfielder Fredrik Ljungberg (Arsenal) scored seven times as did powerful striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Juventus). Verteran Henrik Larsson (Barcelona) added four more goals.

For the twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago, a Nov. 16 victory over Bahrain in Manama secured them the last spot in this year’s Cup. Minutes after the final whistle, fans back on the islands erupted into the streets waving red, black and white flags, singing, dancing, cheering and crying.

We’ve all heard it a million times: “England won the World Cup in 1966.” Yeah, well, what have they done in the past 40 years? Answer: consistently underachieved. Is this the year? Can England overcome historical pressure and injury concerns to break through to the title?
