Germany Advances to the Final

The German women’s national team advanced to the Women’s World Cup final with a 3-0 win over Norway on Wednesday. The defending champion will face the winner of the other semifinal between the U.S. and Brazil.

After an evenly played first half, Germany was the team to grab a piece of luck and the opening goal in the 42 minute off an own goal from Trine Ronning. Birgit Prinz's pushed the ball deep and her well struck low cross was headed in by Ronning.

Germany made adjustments and took control of the match in the second half.

The added two insurance goals over a three minute span to seal the game.

Once again the German side grabbed some good fortune when Kerstin Stegeman’s shot deflected of a Norwegian defend over goalkeeper Bente Nordby and off the post in the 72nd minute for the second goal.

And then in the 75th minute Martina Mueller took advantage of a poor back pass from a Norway defender to beat Nordby to the ball and slot her shot home for the final tally.
