Paul Goodrich of Oregon is SOCCER.COM's March Soccer Hero. Nominated multiple times, Paul has been hailed for teaching players around the world "that no circumstance or training ground should ever define a person, but rather the effort and perseverance a person places in their dreams".

While Paul's work has clearly benefited youth in the US, his tireless work in support of at risk boys and girls in Africa with his non-profit program African Sports Outreach (www.asointernational.org) also stands out. Supporting African children with soccer programs that emphasize the educational component as much as the sport itself, ASO has helped youth gain self-esteem, learn fair play and respect, and have a positive outlet and safe space to share their concerns about problems in their community.

We hope that with a little help from SOCCER.COM, Paul will continue to help those around him and inspire others through soccer.

We will continue to accept SOCCER.COM soccer hero nominations through December 2014 and all current nominations will remains in contention. See submission details below.

We're Looking for Soccer Heroes

To celebrate our 30th anniversary year, we would like to recognize some less celebrated but equally extraordinary heroes of the game.

We want to salute those who have worked to improve the lives of soccer players around the country, but we need your help.

Nominate friends, coaches, teammates, parents and other individuals you see making a difference in your community. If chosen, we will donate $1000 to the charity of their choice, reward them with some free gear, and honor them on SOCCER.COM.

To nominate someone, send a picture of your nominee in addition to a 500 word explanation of how your nominee has been a soccer hero.

Email entries with subject line Soccer Heroes to president.office@sportsendeavors.com. All entries will be considered and voted on by a committee of SOCCER.COM employees.*

*You can also enter by sending your nominee to "Soccer Heroes", 431 US Highway 70-A East, Hillsborough, NC 27278. SOCCER.COM employees and their families are not eligible. Void where prohibited. All rights reserved.

The first Eurosport catalog was sent out in the fall of 1984 with just 24 pages.

In those early years, the company was housed in a small, 900-square-foot building in Durham, North Carolina that included a retail space, three desks to take phone calls, and a small stock room.

From that very first catalog and those humble beginnings to SOCCER.COM today, we have remained a family-owned business devoted to players and fans. In 2014, SOCCER.COM celebrates our 30th anniversary. In honor of this milestone, we have created an exclusive heritage collection. This collection honors our past with a modern interpretation of our classic Eurosport brand.
