Deportivo upsets Milan; Porto downs Lyon

Milan, Italy (Sports Network) - AC Milan's run to a second Champions League title in a row came to a sudden halt on Wednesday night when Deportivo La Coruna slammed the door in its face.

In the first leg of the series, Milan won easily 4-1. But in the quarterfinal second leg match on Wednesday Deportivo stunned everybody by winning the game 4-0 and stealing the series 5-4.

The Spanish side was on the attack from the first whistle. Walter Pandiani scored in the fifth minute followed by Juan Carlos Valeron and Alberto Luque scoring before the half. Fran Gonzalez scored the decisive goal in the 76th minute to win the series and move Deportivo through to the semifinals.

Only needing a goal to put the game away, Milan was unable to find the back of the Deportivo's goal.

FC Porto is the only remaining club left in the tournament that has won the European Champion Clubs' Cup before.

The French side drew with Lyon on Wednesday, but a 2-0 victory in the firs leg secured Porto's spot in the semifinals.

Maniche put Porto out front in the sixth minute and followed that goal up with one in the 47th minute. Peguy Luyindula pulled one back for Lyon in the 14th minute and Giovane Elber leveled the match at 2-2 one minute from time.

On Tuesday, Chelsea and Monaco moved on to the semifinals by beating Arsenal and Madrid respectively.

The semifinals will be held on April 20th and 21st.
