PUMA’s evoSPEED 1.2 is designed to cater to the Speed Demon’s style of play; their need to be the first to the ball. Inspired by track spikes, this generation of the evoSPEED is one of the lightest cleats in the world, and weighs in at a mere seven ounces.
The PUMA evoSPEED upper is made of a super soft and ultrathin monolayer microfiber (aka synthetic leather) material for a natural feel on the ball. The evoSPEED upper is engineered to provide the ultimate touch without skimping on durability. The evoSPEED is also equipped with GripTex, a 3D transparent print for a better touch and grip on the ball, especially in wet conditions. Another new aspect to this generation of the evoSPEED is the instep design. A spot typically reserved for PUMA’s formstripe trademark, PUMA’s lettering is printed across the instep for the first time.
Inside, PUMA’s EverFit cage at the mid-foot provides additional internal stability and flexibility, and maintains optimal support during sprints and turns. PUMA’s DuoFlex technology helps enhance natural foot movement. The reconfigured outsole has smaller conical studs on the front that give the player a better grip on the ground and enhances maneuverability on the field.
What this cleat lacks in weight, it makes up for in durability; the tongue, heel and sock liner are engineered to reduce pressure on the Achilles tendon and distribute it evenly across the foot.
The evoSPEED 1.2 debuted on Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) and Radamel Falcao (Athletic Madrid) in mid-May.
