Fit to print: Balotelli joins PUMA, Stampa set for pre-sale

Breaking news on Mario Balotelli: he’s a PUMA player now.

A headline-maker from the first time he stepped foot on a soccer field, the 23-year-old AC Milan and Italy striker debuted his special edition PUMA evoPOWER Stampa during Sunday’s Milan derby at the San Siro. The shoe has newspaper stories about Balotelli’s career wrapping the outsole.

The newsprint design is similar in appearance to the headline-inspired shoes Balotelli wore last week against Roma. The Stampa, meaning “print” in Italian, features many of the same Balotelli headlines along with a question, “Why Always PUMA?”

It’s a nod to the shirt Balotelli has often lifted his jersey to display after scoring that reads, “Why Always Me?” wondering why he is always the subject of intense scrutiny and media attention. It’s because he is among the world’s most talented players and can decide the outcome of a game with a single strike of his new PUMA cleats.

Super Mario joins a talented and growing roster of PUMA-sponsored stars including Radamel Falcao, Sergio Aguero, Cesc Fabregas, Marco Reus, Yaya Toure, Thierry Henry and Gianluigi Buffon.
