Inter Milan defender Maicon is poised to sign a new deal at the club, ending speculation he was set to move to England or Real Madrid.

The Brazilian’s future at the San Siro has been the subject of conjecture in recent months with the likes of Real, Manchester City and Manchester United all linked with the right-back.

However, Inter are close to tying down the Maicon to a new long-term, according to the player’s agent.

“It is practically a done deal,” said agent Antonio Caliendo.

“It is basically what we expected and Inter paid special attention to his needs.”

Maicon is expected to sign a two-year contract extension to keep him with the Nerazzurri until 2014.
