New York coach Bruce Arena believes the acquisition of Dutch veteran Ronald Waterreus will help the team both in net and in the clubhouse.
The former PSV Eindhoven keeper arrives after a successful emergency stint with Eredivisie power AZ Alkmaar.
“We’ve added a proven goalkeeper with a lot of experience,” Arena told MLSNet. “We are hopeful he will assume a leadership role in the locker room which will be beneficial to us.”
“Ronald and Jon Conway give us a very strong pair of goalkeepers,” he added. “We think this position has been upgraded considerably.”
