David Beckham suffered a ligament strain in his right knee during Wednesday’s SuperLiga loss to Pachuca and could be out for up to six weeks.
After playing through a hard tackle early in the game, the midfielder was taken down in the left corner on a hard challenge from Fernando Salazar in the 33rd minute and immediately motioned to the sideline that he needed to come out.
“At the moment, we’re calling it a ligament strain, but in the morning I’m going for a scan to see exactly what it is and how long I’m going to be out,” the England national team player was quoted as saying on ESPNsoccernet.com.
“This is a injury that takes 4 to 6 weeks, but who knows, if the scan is not so bad maybe I’ve got a chance to play (for England). We’ll know more tomorrow.”
